What a fantastic day of XC riding in Vuokatti! Great weather, nice trails and beautiful scenery. While Finland is one of the flattest countries in Europe, there are quite decent climbs in Vuokatti, according to the Finnish standards. Our ride was 40km with some 900 meters of ascent.

It’s still cold spring in Scandinavia but I still feel compelled to plan some long-distance trail riding for the coming and hopefully warm summer. My intention is to ride at least one or two multi-day trails in Eastern or Northern Finland. Looking at different alternatives, I find Bear’s Path (Karhunpolku in Finnish), located in Finnish Karelia close to the Russian border, to be one of the more exciting trails to try. Read more…
